Float Valve Replacement

Lancashire

THE TASK

In this case study, Tank Reline undertook a series of ball valve remedial works, to restore functionality and performance across three cold water storage tanks on a secure MOD facility. All of these water retaining structures had reported overflow issues, which was later discovered to be the result of two faulty float valves and an extremely corroded ball valve.

PHASE ONE

Our specialist engineers began the first phase of the project after draining the two outdoor water tanks. These both contained inlet float valves that weren't delivering reliable flow control. Using our high-quality suppliers, Tank Reline sourced and installed two new 1.5” Keraflo KB Type float valves. In addition, our team replaced both the outlet and inlet isolation valves to the cold-water storage tanks. The adjacent photo shows one of the new Keraflo float valves after installation.

PHASE TWO

As seen in this picture, the old ball valve in the final tank was badly corroded, impacting it's efficiency and posing a risk of bacterial contamination within the stored water. The state of this valve suggested that a regular inspection schedule was not in place, which could've prevented the need for replacement in the long term. Seamlessly, our team replaced this with a 1-inch drop arm float valve, as seen below. Click to learn more on our ball valve repair & replacement services today!
